GUIDE TO WRITING YOUR FIRST BOOK

Monday, August 30th, 2010

The powers in books go beyond the type written
words. A book is a world of its own, which passes
some form of knowledge or experience from the
writer to the reader. It has become one of the
popular means through which knowledge is spread
across long distances, to teach the do’s and don’ts,
experiences and experiences that do not have to be
experienced, means to achieve and many more.
Through books, we learn from the experiences,
knowledge and deep insight of people we may
never come across, thus acquiring the knowledge
and mind power of such individuals into ourselves.

How To Write A Great Query Letter

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Most writers put a tremendous amount of effort into their content,
pending months or years with their manuscripts, agonizing over word
choice, scene order, character development. Yet when it comes time to write a query letter, they will often write something off the top of their head, sometimes with a mere hour’s effort, and let this suffice to represent their work. They rush through the letter process so that the agent can get to the book itself, which they feel will explain everything. They feel that if an agent just sees the writing, nothing else will matter, and that a poor query letter will even be forgiven.

The Writing Book

Monday, August 30th, 2010

This is how it goes. You want to be a writer. It burns at you and you’ve just got to do it. So you sweat blood and write a novel. You post it off to a publisher who sits on it for months before sending it back with a stock rejection. Something like ‘We enjoyed your writing very much, but our lists are currently full’ or ‘Current market conditions do not allow us to promote new writing’. So you send it off to another publisher, and another, and another. And your spirits sink and your
confidence is blown out off the water.
